Petersfield
Petersfield, maintained by NS provincial parks, is one of the most picturesque and historic areas in the direct Sydney area.
Overlooking the South Arm of Sydney Harbour, Petersfield was once a private family estate and, in the early 1900s, home to some of the most elaborate and well to do parties in Nova Scotia. Today, as a provincial park, it welcomes families and friends for picnics, walks, Canada Day festivities, and the occasional wedding photos.
The park has close to 7km of beautiful lush trails which meander their way along the harbour, beneath shaded limbs, and past the Canadian Coastguard Collage. You can expect to see birds, flowers (many of which remain from the estate’s private gaurdens), foundations, information plaques, and also have the resident squirrels screach at you from the many bird feeders which decorate the trees.
Petersfield is a great place to take the family and escape the “hustle & bustle” of Sydney.
